Dear Readers and Advertisers
Well, if it isn’t one thing it is another. Everything calms down after the General Election, Christmas out of the way, the New Year heralded, some dry weather finally arrives and WALLOP – Covid 19 arrives on everyone’s doorstep. Brexit goes out of the nation’s conversation (for now anyway) and all anyone can talk about is a mystery virus that originated in China and has spread pretty much all over the World. No hand shaking and definitely no kissing and personal hygiene goes to the top of everyone’s agenda where perhaps it should always be anyway. The Government thankfully has a plan and if we all take sensible precautions, hopefully, the worst of the outbreak can be contained until the scientists come up with the appropriate vaccine then all those who need the most protection can be immunised and life can return to normal.

One thing that won’t be normal in May is the first Bank Holiday date. The Government has moved it from Monday 4th to Friday 8th so that we can all celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe. At 3pm on that day seventy five years ago, the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, announced on BBC radio that the fighting in Europe was over. There will be services, celebrations, parties, picnics and events all over our county. Look out for what is happening in your parish, village or town and support and enjoy this great occasion. The dreaded virus may cause the cancellation of the above and many other events but in difficult times heroes emerge such as Medway plasterer, Toby Newman, who is offering a free £400 re plaster of a room completely free for a fam-ily who needs a room done. He is running a competition on social media and there are no strings attached. Visit newmanplastering.co.uk/win-a-room-replaster-worth-400/ for all the information.
