Dear Readers and Advertisers
Halloween or Horroween, depends how you look at it really. This year the date of 31st October has added significance as it is the day that this country leaves the European Union. Well, it is meant to but the political turmoil of the summer has turned into the chaos of the autumn and we might even have a General Election the purpose of which, presumably, is to cleanse the murky water and give clarity to a new administration going forward. Hopefully it will but recent history indicates that, although the populationas a whole and particularly the business world, want the European situation sorted out so that everyone knows where they stand, one way or another, our bickering politicians, of whatever persuasion, seem incapable of coming up with a solution. Hey ho, roll on Christmas!

Remember to enter our October Word search competition. This month we have prizes for 4 winners. Yes that is 4 PAIRS OF EVENING TICKETS FOR THE BROADWITCH HAUNTFEST 2019 courtesy of BROADDITCH FARM, MANOR FARM, SOUTHFLEET. Entry deadline is 10th October, 2019. The winner of the MEAL FOR 2 courtesy of THE GREEN MAN, of LONGFIELD HILL in the September competition was MRS MAUREEN BRYAN of ISTEAD RISE who correctly identified FOOTBALL as being the missing word from the Word search.

Meanwhile Halloween celebrations and parties will be held and our young children will be busy terrifying their parents and grandparents and having a screamingly great time. Don’t forget to have your treats ready for the tricksters or better still, be out and about yourself enjoying seasonal hospitality at one of the hostelries or restaurants advertised in this magazine. Before Halloween the Big Pink Quiz in aid of ‘Breast Cancer Now’ takes place at the Fawkham and Hartley Church Centre, Ash Road, Hartley on Saturday 12th October. To book a table call 01474 708260.
