Dear Readers and Advertisers

Who remembers the dystopian days of lockdown? It does seem a long time ago but sadly the dreaded virus has not gone away. It has led to everyone looking the same when masked up and I hope parents have been fetching the right child from the school gate and not been taking home the wrong little ‘bandit’. So difficult when they all look like Batman! Hopefully all our treasured children are adapting to the new regimes operating in our educational establishments, getting down to their lessons and catching up with the demands of the curriculum. Thankfully more places and spaces are opening up so that the weekends can properly be used to refresh their energies, both physical and mental. Many Dads and Mums are getting used to the new ways of working, both at home and in the office, but the economic consequences of lockdown are still being felt. An even better reason to get out and spend locally, especially if you managed to save some money during the bad early days, and to support our loyal advertisers.

Who said it is only about 80 days until Christmas? Somebody did on the telly and it doesn’t seem possible. It might be the weirdest Christmas ever, especially if Santa gets a dose of Covid and can’t get his reindeer into their shafts to get delivering all those presents to our children, who surely deserve extra treats after all they have had to put up with in this pandemic year. If you have missed the ‘PINK’ events for Breast Cancer Now, usually organised in our area by the indefatigable Sue Facey and Michaela Franklin, then Wear It Pink Day is on Friday 23rd October and you could donate all that Sue and Michaela would have collected by donating on www.justgiving.com/fundraising/wearitpink. They will be super pleased if you did and it would help us all to feel ‘IN THE PINK!’
